From a desk job
to the pond bund.
I trained as an engineer and practised law. Then I came home to the farm and went into the water. My father had been farming shrimp for years.
When disease and the pandemic hit Indian shrimp production, I didn't want to farm the old way. I lined the ponds with HDPE, moved to biofloc and super-intensive culture, and treated the farm like an engineering problem, measuring and adjusting everything. It worked. Now I spend part of my time helping other farmers do the same.
My family gave me the ponds; farming gave me the knowledge. Passing it on is how I give back, because a farmer who earns well feeds more people.

Engineer & lawyer
A background in engineering and legal practice, which taught me systems thinking and how to read the fine print.
- 2015
Into aquaculture
I joined the family's shrimp farming business and began rebuilding it around lined ponds, aeration and biofloc.
- 2021
A record harvest
A 5-hectare intensive biofloc section reached 160 tonnes per hectare a year. The results drew national press and a farm visit from Dr. L. Murugan, Union Minister of State for Fisheries.
- Today
1,150 acres, and an open door
1,150 acres of extensive ponds, an intensive biofloc section scaled up to 50 acres, and free guidance for any farmer who reaches out.
